Tuesday, January 27, 2009 — Freezing rain and ice forced most area schools to cancel classes today as well as the cancellation of civic meetings. Local roads showed much improvement by late morning however another round of “wintry mix” is on the way for late tonight, continuing through at least midday Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a “winter weather advisory” for the entire Lake Cumberland area from 3:00 a.m.-12:00 noon Wednesday. The NWS says we should prepare for 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation and under a quarter inch of ice accumulation for early Wednesday morning.
